{"id":5,"date":"2018-03-01T23:24:18","date_gmt":"2018-03-01T23:24:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/2018.birmingham.wordcamp.org\/?p=5"},"modified":"2018-05-16T07:01:31","modified_gmt":"2018-05-16T07:01:31","slug":"call-for-speakers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/birmingham.wordcamp.org\/2018\/call-for-speakers\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Speakers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks for your interest in speaking and helping us put on an amazing WordCamp Birmingham!<\/p>\n<p>If you submit a proposal, here\u2019s what you need to know:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Speakers get a free ticket to WordCamp and an invitation to a VIP dinner prior to the event, but are not otherwise compensated.<\/li>\n<li>Sessions cannot be sales pitches for your product or services.<\/li>\n<li>Each session will be recorded and submitted to WordPress.tv, so you\u2019ll need to sign an A\/V release form.<\/li>\n<li>We will request presentation slides for review a few weeks before WordCamp. Make sure you can meet that deadline.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/2018.birmingham.wordcamp.org\/code-of-conduct\/\">WordCamp Birmingham has a Code of Conduct<\/a> which applies to all participants at all\u00a0WordCamp Birmingham events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How Speakers will be Selected<\/h2>\n<p><strong>The deadline for speaker submissions is May 15, 2018.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once speaker applications close, the WordCamp Birmingham organizing team will review the submissions based on topic,\u00a0assumed interest to attendees, and quality of application.<\/p>\n<h3><em>Update as of May 16, 2018:<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>On March 1, 2018, we began actively seeking a wide variety of topics and a diverse speaker pool. As of today, May 16, 2018, speaker submissions are closed.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to everyone who submitted a speaker submission.\u00a0 We received 100 submissions from 59 speakers!\u00a0 \u00a0We hope to send out acceptance emails to speakers by this weekend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks for your interest in speaking and helping us put on an amazing WordCamp Birmingham!
