We are excited to share that WordPress Community Support updated their COVID–19 guidelines making it possible for us to host WordCamp Birmingham in-person this year.
Now that we can continue plan an event, we have two initial priorities we need to work on:
- Recruit organizers. There are some vacancies in the organizing team that we’d like to fill. If you are interested, please let us know.
- Venue and dates. After we shared our postponement update in February, our organizers put any active organizing on hold. We will reconnect with our venue contacts and look for new dates.
When the venue and dates are locked in, we can work on the list below:
- Tickets. We’ll open ticket sales up again. Everyone who purchased a ticket before was automatically refunded. You will need to purchase a new ticket to attend.
- Sponsors. Some sponsors were okay waiting to hear what was possible this year. Some sponsors requested refunds. We will touch base with each sponsor asking if they would still like to participate. We will open call for sponsors to fill any open sponsorships.
- Speakers. We will touch base with each speaker selected for our February event asking if they would still like to participate. We will open call for speakers to fill out our schedule.
- Volunteers. We will touch base with each volunteer who offered to help. We will open call for volunteers to fill out our schedule.
- Vendors. We have some ideas and contacts available to us from before when we cancelled. It’ll be necessary to reconnect with and commit with our vendors on our new dates.
We’ve been looking forward to having another WordCamp in Birmingham since the day after our 2019 event was over.
We do hope that this is our chance to make this event happen.
