We’re excited to have WordCamp at WorkPlay. The venue is a unique space that includes recording studios, soundstage, production offices, and a theatre. In their own words…
WorkPlay is a space that inspires artist and entertainers to work and play in collaboration and success. Envisioned by the four Hunter brothers, WorkPlay fosters creative thinking to support the diverse, artistic community.
Sign in the lobby at WorkPlay
In the “work” part of the building, we’ll be using three spaces: the Soundstage, Production Offices, and the Canteen (the area where our Sponsors and food will be). It’s neat that a production company for a movie is currently using these areas. Fear not, though, while we are there for WordCamp, their items will be moved elsewhere within the building.
The Soundstage
The Soundstage is an enormous room with a very high ceiling. There will be a super cool video wall installed there for a movie shoot (not pictured).
Production Office
This is the room where the production team for a movie is actively working. Their section will be curtained off and chairs will be placed in open floor area. This is a really cool space and is larger than it looks in the picture.
In the “play” part of the building, we’ll be using the lobby, bar, and theatre. The lobby will be the location for Registration and Information. During peak times of badge pickup and t-shirt distribution, we’ll utilize the bar where those items can be spread out.
The Theatre
This is a fantastic room that is regularly used for live music events. There’s a large raised stage with a big screen behind it. The attendees will be on the floor and on the first level in the ring of tables surrounding it.
