Our Saturday noontime development talks are all about automation this year. Leading the conversation are two of our favorite WordPress community members. Here’s a sneak peak of their talks.

“GraphQL and Vue for WordPress”

By Wes Eldridge

Wesley Eldridge is a full-stack engineer, entrepreneur, and researcher. He holds a BSBA from The University of Alabama, with a concentration in Applied Economics. Currently, he helps run Rebellious Labs, a product and engineering focused company. Wes also works with Randall-Reilly as a web application developer within their product development group where he delivers high-value applications that reach more than 100,000 users a month.

Outside of his professional career, Wes also contributes to open source software. He currently is a lead organizer and researcher for Pommerman, a multiagent reinforcement learning platform. This has given him and his team the opportunity to present at conferences like NeurIPS, AIIDE, and AAAI. Within the Pommerman community, Wes helps support more than 1,000 community members, develops and maintains the platform, and works with collaborators to produce research and presentations.

His entrepreneurial work has allowed him to be a guest lecturer, coach/mentor to startup founders, and a judge at startup focused events. Throughout his startup career, he has won 4 startup competitions helping him fund his companies. In his free time, he enjoys hacking on robots and hardware, traveling, hiking, and cooking.

Wes was an early supporter of GraphQL and the ideas behind it; he has implemented it in a variety of products and shared them with the wider developer community. In his talk, “GraphQL and Vue for WordPress,” Wes will discuss the motivations and fundamentals behind GraphQL. From there, he will show attendees how to install wp-graphql and VueJs and get the client and server to talk to each via GraphQL.

Attendees will learn how to create a better frontend experience for their sites by utilizing wp-graphql and VueJs.

“Automating Your Social Media”

By April Weir

April helps individuals and businesses become better – either by making them a new website or coaching them toward their online goals. She is heavily involved in the Atlanta WordPress community: she co-organizes the Woodstock WordPress Meetup and is a former WordCamp Atlanta organizer.

For fun, she runs Sugar Five Design, a digital marketing company in Woodstock, GA.

April’s presentation, “Automating Your Social Media,” helps you streamline your social media scheduling and sharing. Make more impact in more places by harnessing the power of automation. April will show participants how to plan, implement, and track their social media campaigns. They will leave this talk knowing how to do more in less time.
